In order to create an accurate demand plan, they must first decide how many laptops they expect to sell in a particular region during a specific week. This requires a SKU-level forecast. However, if they are making decisions about how much capacity to add to their production line twelve months out, they may not need to consider the demand for each individual SKU. Instead, they may focus on the total demand for laptops in that region and adjust their production capacity accordingly.
